The Freedom House Museum officially opened its doors in 2008 to rave reviews. The opening—attended by Virginia Congressman, Jim Moran and Alexandria Mayor, William D. Euille—generated a whirlwind of press from more than ten local media including The Washington Post and FOX 5 News. The JBK Brand Design spearheaded the creation of this inspiring museum—from preservation and construction, to illustration, interactives, photography and exhibit design. The museum captures the history of Alexandria’s domestic slave trade. Freedom House’s opening enhanced the Northern Virginia Urban League’s profile in the region while showcasing its message of empowerment and change.
